Anthropic heads for a November IPO. Here is what Claude customers should watch.
Anthropic has filed confidentially to go public and pledged up to 5% of its shares to a new Public Benefit Fund. Reported figures from its draft prospectus show revenue up roughly fifteen-fold. What is confirmed, what is reported, and what it means for teams that depend on Claude.

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, is preparing to go public. It confirmed in June that it had confidentially submitted a draft registration statement to the SEC, and Bloomberg reports it is aiming to list before Thanksgiving. This week brought two developments: a governance announcement from Anthropic itself, and financial figures reported from its draft prospectus.
The distinction matters. The draft has not been made public, so the numbers below are reports from journalists who viewed it, not filed financial statements.
Confirmed by Anthropic: a Public Benefit Fund
On October 18, Anthropic announced it will commit 5% of its shares, subject to stockholder approval, to a new Public Benefit Fund. The board may add another 2% for every 50% rise in the company's value above a set baseline. The fund is a wholly owned LLC that can donate to nonprofits or fund work directly, with the labor-market effects of AI named as one focus. Together with existing pledges, Anthropic says about 20% of its equity is now dedicated to public purposes.
"None of the Anthropic equity held by the LLC will be used for lobbying or political giving, in the US or abroad." - Anthropic
Reported from the draft prospectus
According to the Wall Street Journal's reporting on the draft, as relayed by Investing.com and Bloomberg:
- Revenue: $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, against $1.1 billion a year earlier.
- Losses: a reported $80.7 billion net loss for the half, about $72 billion of which is non-cash charges on convertible notes and similar instruments.
- Compute: roughly $450 billion in cloud commitments across Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
- Concentration: two unnamed customers made up about a fifth of first-half revenue.
The growth has continued since. The Financial Times reported, via CNBC, that Anthropic told investors third-quarter revenue reached $16.8 billion on its own, roughly what it made in the whole first half. Reported valuation talk for the IPO ranges from $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion.
What Claude customers should watch
- Capacity. The reported risk factors include limited capacity at Anthropic's cloud providers and opposition to new data centers. Capacity has improved this year, including a compute deal with SpaceX that let Anthropic double Claude Code usage limits on paid plans, but rate limits remain the thing most likely to affect you.
- Pricing. Nothing reported from the prospectus commits Anthropic to future prices. Recent moves have been downward, such as Claude Haiku 5.5's 90% list-price cut. Public-market pressure on margins could change that direction, so lock in enterprise terms if predictable pricing matters to you.
- Government restrictions. The Pentagon's designation of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk, upheld on appeal in September, still applies; Anthropic says it covers Claude use within Department of War contracts. Federal contractors should check their exposure.
- Model access. Nothing reported suggests changes to how Claude models are offered. If you rely on older models, watch the deprecation page instead: Claude Haiku 4.5 leaves the Claude.ai apps on October 29.
For the typical Claude customer, nothing changes this month. The IPO matters most if you are deciding how deeply to build on one provider. Our ChatGPT vs Claude comparison and model index cover the alternatives, and a multi-provider setup remains the simplest hedge.
