Kling 4.0 makes 30-second videos in one take. The price per clip is still a mystery.

Kuaishou's Kling 4.0 doubles clip length to 30 seconds and adds up to 15 reference assets and 10 keyframes. What is confirmed, what is still missing (credit costs, API, rankings), and whether Runway users should test it before November 30.

Kling 4.0 makes 30-second videos in one take. The price per clip is still a mystery.

Kuaishou released Kling 4.0 this week, after teasing it in late September. It went live in China late on October 15 and globally on October 16, under the tagline "You call the shots." The headline feature is length: Kling 4.0 generates up to 30 seconds of video in a single pass, double Kling 3.0's 15-second limit.

For creators weighing their options before Runway's Unlimited plan ends on November 30, it is the most significant video model release of the month. Here is what is confirmed, what is not, and who should try it.

What is new

  • 30-second clips in one generation. Longer shots mean fewer stitched cuts and more consistent motion across a scene.
  • Omni Reference. You can feed up to 15 reference assets (images, short videos and subjects) plus up to 10 keyframes to control characters, products and composition.
  • Steadier motion for large-scale movement and camera work, the area where a director quoted by 36Kr said Kling 3.0 lacked a sense of weight.
  • Output options up to 4K, plus 1080p and 21:9 widescreen, with two-channel stereo audio and improved lip-sync.
  • Agent access. Kling's MCP server and CLI let AI agents drive generations directly.
"We were the first video model to launch 4K native generation, and in the Kling 4.0 series we launched 10-bit HDR - heavily demanded by advertising or film creatives." - Zheru Liu, Head of Partnerships North America, Kling AI

What is not confirmed yet

  1. Cost per clip. Kling has not published how many credits a Kling 4.0 generation costs, so nobody can yet compare it fairly with Runway or Pika on price per second.
  2. API access. There is no Kling 4.0 API price yet; API platforms such as fal list it as coming soon.
  3. 10-bit HDR and long extensions. Despite the launch messaging, fal's documentation lists 10-bit HDR and two-minute video extension as coming soon.
  4. Independent quality rankings. Artificial Analysis has not ranked Kling 4.0 yet. On its text-to-video leaderboard, Kling 3.0 currently sits 15th (1019), behind Wan 3.0 (1174) and Seedance 2.5 (1160), so 4.0 has ground to make up.
  5. Inside Runway. Runway offers Kling 3.0 on its paid plans, but Kling 4.0 is not listed there yet.

What Kling costs

Kling's plans, as checked by third-party reviewers on launch day (Kling's own pricing page requires sign-in to view):

PlanMonthly priceCredits per month
Free$066 per day (watermarked, no commercial use)
Standard$8.80 ($6.99 first month)660
Pro$32.56 ($25.99 first month)3,000
Premier$80.96 ($64.99 first month)8,000

Higher tiers run to $544.99 a month for 57,000 credits. Without a published credit cost for 4.0 clips, treat these as entry prices rather than a cost per video.

Who should try it now

If you make ads, product videos or narrative shots where continuity across a longer take matters, Kling 4.0's 30-second generations and reference controls are worth testing on the free tier or a single month of Standard. If you are a Runway Unlimited subscriber deciding what to do before November 30, add Kling to your test list alongside Pika and the other tools in our Runway guide, and run the same prompts on each.

If you need predictable costs for client work, wait until Kling publishes credit costs for 4.0 and independent rankings arrive. Our best AI video tools ranking and Pika vs Runway comparison cover the established options in the meantime.
